Jace Tramontin
Greetings, my name is Jace Tramontin and I live on the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota working for a public school district. I have two sons and am a widower to a wonderful person to who, I can say, pushed me into the retriever community.
Before I was involved in a retriever club, I volunteered in scouting with my two boys. Also, Denise and I were involved with a fundraising banquet. Attending one of these banquets, a black lab was going up for a live auction. Denise and the boys talked me into bidding on the dog, with a promise that they would train the dog for me to go hunting. To make a long story short, we did get the black lab and my family kept their word on training. This lab, JT’s Tip Trouble MNH, became our first Hall of Fame retriever running beside us as we ventured into the community.
This is also when I became involved with our local club, the Minnesota Iron Range RC. During the past twenty-two years, I have held numerous positions within our club; from a bird steward to President, working on two National Amateur events at the MIRRC, and I am currently the Vice President.
During one of the years I was President of the MIRRC, in 2008, we were fortunate to have hosted the Master National in Northern Minnesota. I was a Co-Chair of the event along with being responsible for running the kitchen and merchandise sales. This was a great opportunity to meet many wonderful people from across the country.
In 2010, I joined the MNRC board as a Director, became VP in 2011, and President in 2016. In 2012, I started my Judging activity. I have judged from Texas to Alaska and at many clubs in between. I enjoy watching and learning while others run their dogs in the sport. In 2014/15, I chaired a small committee to explore the possibility of a Master Open and Master Amateur National. This committee appointed the first MARC board.
I have been fortunate to have participated in many National events since 2007 traveling across the country. Sometimes with only a couple weeks off between Nationals. Currently, my travel partner is our two-time hall of fame lab, JT’s Double Trouble Alter Ego MAH5, MNH4.
I have high hopes for my young lab and our retriever sport.
In conclusion, I have enjoyed meeting new, like-minded people interested in having fun while running dogs at hunt tests and National events. I look forward to helping make the Master Amateur Retriever Club the best it can be for the members.
