Master National and MARC Reciprocity   –   By-Law Change

Updated January 2019

  1. MARC has always allowed an amateur member handled dog that passes the Master National to earn two passes toward the current qualifying period for the Invitational.  In addition, a pass at the Invitational would earn two passes toward the next Invitational. However, the original By-Laws only allowed a total two passes to be credited even if the member handled dog passed both national events. That limitation has been removed.
  2. MARC has also changed the passes required for the Invitational. Beginning March 1, 2019, amateur member handled dogs need only four passes to qualify for the 2020 Invitational.
  3. The MNRC has agreed to full reciprocity. In other words, a dog that passes the Invitational will receive two pass credits for the following Master National. An amateur handled dog that passes both national events would be credited with four qualifying passes for the Master National, as well as the Master Amateur Invitational.
  4. The MNRC requires that for an Invitational pass to earn the two pass credits the dog must have qualified for that Invitational at MNRC member club events. Questions concerning the MNRC qualifications should be directed to your MNRC delegate or regional Director.
  5. These By-Law changes recognize the achievements of these talented Master Hunters. The change will also allow dogs to qualify for both national events by running fewer weekend tests, thus providing some small relief to the number of dogs entering weekend tests.

Thank you,
Bob Swift, MARC President, and the MARC Board of Directors
