The 2020 Invitational was Rescheduled for April 2021

2020 MASTER AMATEUR INVITATIONAL
Event Information


DATES: April 18-25, 2021  (PLEASE NOTE: This is the RESCHEDULED event dates)

LOCATION: Western Region – Corning, California
Open to all Retriever breeds as specified in the Qualifying Standards
This Hunting Test will be held under the rules and procedures of the AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB

WHERE: The fourth annual MAI will be held on properties in Corning, California.

WHEN: The event will begin on Sunday, April 18, 2021 and wrap up by Sunday, April 25, 2021
​                  (Saturday April 17, 2021 will be the event meetings)


Entry Fee: $400.00
Enter online and view premium: Entry Express


Duration: As stated in our By-laws the Invitational is scheduled to run in one week – Sunday to Sunday. Flights will be kept small enough to allow for a full 6 series within that time frame.  

Master National Qualifiers: Any dog passing the 2019 MN or MAI handled by an Amateur in all series and in all qualifying tests will receive credit for 2 passes toward the 2020 MAI qualification. MNH dogs handled by an Amateur in at least 3 MN events and qualifying for those events, are qualified by rule. 

ENTRIES: Entries will be handled by Entry Express. The event is open to amateur handled dogs that have met the qualifying requirements as stipulated by the Master Amateur Retriever Club, Inc.

Scratch Policy:
Entry fee(s) for scratches will be refunded in full for a bitch in season prior to and during the running of the Invitational, and with appropriate veterinarian certificates for sick or injured dog or extenuating circumstances approved by the Hunt Test Committee.  Given the uncertainty surrounding the COVID19 pandemic, upon receipt  of a note (within 30 days of event) of a doctors consult or visit with any symptoms the committee will consider all requests for refunds, less an administrative fee.

Running Order:
The draw will be conducted by Entry Express. The first running dog number will be determined at approximately 4:30 pm, during the handlers’ meeting Saturday, April 17, 2021, the day before the Invitational starts.

Birds:  Ducks and or pheasants will be used.

FOOD:  There are numerous fast food restaurants in Corning, one mile north of the test grounds.

• Birds may be picked up between 7:30 and 8:30
• All birds must be PRE-PAID
• Bird Pickup location is the Clear Creek Sports Club Office
• There will be a DEAD BIRD drop area. DO NOT put in dumpsters.
Bring your own crates.

*Please note – due to infectious disease, no outside birds are allowed on Brad’s property at any time. Please respect this policy when planning your trip.

**Special Note –Hunting licenses for shooters on the grounds will be $15.00. 
​Contact Brad Henman at the office (530-520-9464) to purchase one. For out of state gunners who want to shoot flyers on training grounds – check out the website at 
www.wildlife.ca.gov  You have to create a profile online, send in hunter safety or a copy of your out of state license and pay the California Fees. (We suggest you consider finding a California hunter to train with you!)

Training Areas:
Training grounds will be allocated each day by lottery drawing starting TBA. The draw location TBA.
The Training Grounds and Test Site Book with descriptions and photos of each training area will be available at the draw, or by contacting a committee member directly upon arriving into Town.
