WESTERN REGION ELECTION

Vice President
NOMINEE INFORMATION

David McPherson

Like all duck dog stories, mine began in a duck blind.  Soon after, I was fortunate enough to acquire a great dog and learn the hunt test process.  Going into 2025, I currently have two dogs, one Master dog and another Senior dog.  The lessons learned every day in training my own dogs are invaluable and build empathy toward our members.

I have been a member of Oregon Hunting Retriever Club for 15 years.  This has afforded me many volunteer opportunities such as judging all AKC competitive levels, stake chair at hunt tests, and marshaling. I have been a member of the Board of Directors at Oregon Hunting Retriever Club for more than ten.  This experience adds to my qualifications for this nomination.

Additionally, I have had a successful career for over thirty years managing portfolio acquisitions in the mortgage industry.  My experience has helped me navigate through some challenging times and collaborate with top industry executives to make important decisions for very large companies. This lends itself to the leadership requirements for the Vice President of the West Region for Master Amateur Retriever Club in a number ways:  using my collaboration skills to assist other Vice Presidents and Directors with the MAI; ensure coverage of the responsibilities necessary for smooth operation of the Master Amateur Invitational; delegating duties; securing a viable site location; and managing finances to guarantee that the event is profitable.

Being an amateur handler and trainer, I strongly believe in the master amateur model.  I have been a Charter Member of MARC since its inception in 2016..
