Julie Cairns
I have been involved in the world of retrievers since 1977 when I joined the Redwood Empire Retriever Club and ran my first field-bred Golden in a Derby. Soon I was the club secretary, a position I have held almost continuously since 1978. I judged the Junior test at our clubs’ first AKC licensed test in 1985. I have served three separate times on the MNRC Board. The first two as Western Region Director, then as Vice President and finally President in 2006. Besides the duties associated with those positions I also did concessions for several years as well as the layout of the event catalog. I am a member of the NorCal Golden Retriever Club and for many years acted as Chair for their annual event.
I have judged all Hunt Test levels as well as both minor and major Field Trial Stakes. I have judged the Master National three times- 1984, 1998 and 2019. I also had the honor of judging the Master Amateur event in 2018.
I have owned, trained and handled my dogs at all three levels. Three of my Goldens were Master Hunters, and my current Master Hunter is a Labrador Retriever.
If elected I would promise to serve and represent the interests of the Master Amateur members in my region. I truly believe in the necessity of the Master Amateur program if the Master Hunt Test program has any hope of continuing as it was originally envisioned.
Thank you for your consideration.
