I gave up teaching and coaching in the early 80’s to train Chessies, duck hunt and participate in AKC Field Trials. When AKC introduced the Hunt Test Program, Sidney and I helped start the program in NC. We judged, worked in the field and handled the paper work required at that time. Consequently, when the MN was introduced, we gave our full support as Charter Members. I entered my first MN in 1993 and eventually entered 8 tests and passed 6. I was appointed to the MN BD in 2005. I served as President in 2007 and judged the event in 2010. Currently, I am a working member in the Neuse Retriever Club.
Needless to say, over many years, I have seen the Hunt Test Program change due to growth and its tremendous success across the nation. Which leads me to say, I was extremely enthusiastic when I learned about MARC. Regretfully, due to family illness, we could not attend the first MARC. However last year we made the trip to MO. We had a super good time and even got a pass.
There are so many great amateur handlers and trainers in our sport and MARC has given us a National Retriever Club dedicated to that amateur and the hunting retriever. I am honored to be nominated for the position of Region I Director. It will be a great ride for whomever is elected.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary C. Williams
